
SOUND, SMELL or sight – which sense do birds rely on when they are hunting for worms?

THE INEVITABILITY of the sea in its differing moods has been depicted by generations of storytellers and painters. Restless, caressing, serene, lonely - are just a handful of defining adjectives used to portray it.

IT’S NOT unusual to look out of the window at the bird table and see half a dozen jackdaws, a couple of pheasants and a pigeon scratting away at the seed spilt from the bird table. Hopping in and out among the big birds are sparrows and wagtails and yellowhammers.
