Being out in the countryside with my dogs gives me time to think. I’ve learnt the pleasure of solitude without being lonely, and that’s a good feeling for me.

Classroom in the great outdoors

IMG_6607THIS WEEK I revisited Murton Farm Nature Reserve situated two miles outside Forfar, on the A932 Forfar-Friockheim road. The reserve was created from 80 acres of worked-out sand and gravel quarries. Over twelve years, what was derelict wasteland has been brought back into proper balance and transformed into an asset that is of value to nature, wildlife, the environment and the community.
